Saxophonist Greg Osby made his annual trip to the Green Mill last weekend and Blackie Larue was there to catch the action. Osby's brand of interesting modern, yet melodic jazz is addictive and filled with enough space to allow his talented band to shine in solo spotlights. One surprising highlight - Osby and band pulled out "Counting Your Blessings" from the movie White Christmas. The Green Mill - at 4801 N. Broadway - is, of course, the granddaddy of northside jazz clubs and combines Al Capone-era atmosphere with high level jazz. The place is packed on the weekends - so get there early for one of the tables or booths. Check out the Mill at www.greenmilljazz.com.
